Crazy Life Update
Yes, it's been a while since a post on this blog. Laura has been in the hospital for 2 weeks now on bedrest. We are expecting our 3rd child and with pregnancy complications, Laura's was prescribed bedrest by her doctor. So, being busy with work, looking after the kids, etc. haven't had much time to post on this blog. I have been working on the nursery and will be posting photos soon!

Mantle - Ready for Spring!
Anyone else out there have troubles decorating a mantle after the Christmas decorations come down? That would be us! Our mantle sat empty for a few months, looking drab and bare. Maybe the fact that the mantle is only about 6 inches deep would play a part in this - it's nearly impossible to find anything small enough to fit on there. However, with the sun shining and spring finally here, we managed to get it dressed in spring style. And of course, we jumped on the band wagon and added a few ceramic birds. They're the latest design craze! How about you? Any readers have decorated mantles you'd like to share? Send photos to gordmaljaars@hotmail.com.

Woah, Baby!
With child #3 on the way, the nursery was next on the list. With Laura's condition of placenta previa, a C-section is scheduled for 8 weeks from now. However, we are told that chances of baby coming anytime between now and then is high. So, the race is on to get it done in time.
Stay posted for more!

Demolition ... Done (yes, we are going to use that good ol' Ikea crib again)
Out with the disgusting carpet, 1980's wall-paper-border, inefficient closet shelving, baseboard & trim.

Kitchen Renovation
Shortly after the New Year of 2009, we decided to start tearing down the old kitchen! After we had torn down the first few cabinets and left some gaping holes in our drywall, there was no turning back. We were committed to a full-out renovation. This lead to removing a wall, moving a door, installing a new window and stripping down the kitchen to studs. Once we were down to the "bare bones" we began rebuilding. Having removed the wall between the kitchen and the dining room, we were able to completely change the layout of the kitchen. The sink, fridge, stove and dishwasher were all relocated. Electrical rewiring, plumbing, drywall, new cabinets and granite and finally hardwood flooring completed and created the space we had a vision for 1/2 year ago. It was a huge job, but we are very thankful and are loving our new kitchen.
